Lapis lazuli, also known as ‘lapis’ is not a mineral like other gems, it is a rock composed by several minerals. The inclusion of Lazuli gives the stone its heavenly rich azure blue color. The combination of different minerals results in a gorgeous ultramarine stone that shimmers with gold flecks. Lapis lazuli means ‘stone from the sky’.
Jade is a mineral which is typically green although it may be yellow or white. In the Chinese empire Jade had a significant value comparable with gold in the west. Jade is also called the ‘imperial gem’.
