Peridot is an olive-green gem variety of the mineral Olivine. The shade of peridot can vary from green-yellow to brownish-green depending on how much iron the crystals contain. The gemstone is cheerful light summery and is the birthstone of August.
Jade is a mineral which is typically green although it may be yellow or white. In the Chinese empire Jade had a significant value comparable with gold in the west. Jade is also called the ‘imperial gem’.
